With such small numbers the variations from one year
to another are not statistically significant; reflect the profile of
those applying in a given year.
Since 1997, when conditional offers became universal for students taking
A-levels Virtually every one of our undergraduates has obtained 30 UCAS
points.
We do not actively encourage Gap Year applicants for Mathematics, and
would make a deferred offer only in exceptional circumstances. In
our experience, those who have a year away from academic study have much
greater difficulty in making the transition to university work than
those who do not. On the other hand, students have quite often taken a
year out immediately after graduating and this has worked out very well.
The College has travel grants available which assist present
undergraduates with the cost of travel abroad in vacations and a
number of scholarships which enable new graduates to spend a year in
Japan learning Japanese.
