Universitat de Barcelona

The University

The Universitat de Barcelona was established at the end of the thirteen century. It has around 60.000 students and 5.700 staff. There are several campus placed in different parts of the city, where suitable facilities for students and visitors are offered (sports areas, libraries and lodging).

The oldest building of the University, dated 1860, was constructed just at the beginning of the modern urbanization plan for the town, projected by the architect Ildefons Cerdà. It is located in the core of the city near the old gothic quarter and inside a very active business and commercial area.

The Faculty of Mathematics

The Facultat de Matemàtiques is located in the old building of the University. It has an academic staff of around 100 people, including research fellows and visitors. The academic staff are grouped in four departments (Algebra and Geometry, Applied Mathematics and Analysis, Logic History and Philosophy of Science, and Statistics). The Faculty has about 1000 undergraduate and graduate students. It has a library containing around18.000 monographs and 641 journals subscriptions.

More information on the Faculty can be found in at www.mat.ub.es.

There is a research group in Stochastic Analysis which has a weekly seminar with an audience of about 20 people, including graduate students and visitors. Topics in Stochastic Analysis under current research are: Malliavin Calculus and applications, stochastic partial differential equations and anticipating stochastic calculus. \medskip Applications for postdoctoral positions funded by the European Union TMR Programme in the area of Stochastic Analysis are welcome. The following faculty members can offer advice for a postdoctoral proposal:
